Here are some of the most common questions at Ace Gutter. All questions are pulled from the courses you will be taking.
General questions
All employees are required to record all working time. For piece rate pay use google time sheets. For hourly pay use Gusto timekeeping application. Speak with your Manager / Supervisor for specific instructions.
Hourly employees will use the Gusto time keeping application to clock in and out. Piece rate employees will be invited to a google timesheet that is created for that employee by their manager. Employees will need to download the google sheet app onto their phone. That is where you will record your piece rate jobs. The amount of piece rate paid will be given to you on each job from sales account managers. That is the amount you will enter on the time card.
Employees should input piece rate totals and their hours every day they work, to ensure accuracy. Our best practice recommendation is that managers review employee timesheets weekly instead of once at the end of the pay period.
Purchases at home depot or other suppliers will be done over the phone with the account manager or office. When using a company credit card take a picture of the receipt and email to the Office Manager immediately following the purchase. The subject line should be the name of the installer and name of expense account used. ie. “Small tools” or “Rain Gutter Material.”
If you do not have a computer at home or a working phone, you can access a computer in several places at work. If you need more assistance please contact your Branch Operation Manager or HR Manager.

Tools
Employees are responsible to provide the following tools at their own expense: Tool Bags, Drill: Impact and Standard, Hammer, 35' Tape Measure, 100' tape measure, Utility Knife, chisel and Tin Snips. Ace gutter will provide the following tools: Malco Riveter, Stabila torpedo level, 2 ⅜” hole saw, ladders, rain gutter machine, miter saw, extension cords, end cap crimps, and caulk gun.
If the tool was provided by Ace Gutter we will replace the tool if it is worn out. If the tool is lost, stolen, or broken, the employee is responsible to replace it at their own expense
Pay, Bonus, Vehicle
A code is given to an employee when a vehicle is assigned to them. Employees will be required to put their code and the mileage at each fillup at the gas station. Remember that the gas card identifies the vehicle and the code identifies who is using the card. To protect others from using your code do not share your code with anyone.
At the beginning of your training your manager will set milestones where you would get pay raises. After training, production employees will set goals to get a production bonus. Bonuses are tracked by Branch Operation Managers and are paid out quarterly. Sales account managers have a bonus structure that will pay a bonus based on gross profit margin and will be paid out at the end of the year. Please refer to your employment agreement for more details.
No. Ace Gutter does not do paycheck advances. If you have a money situation that you can’t find a way out of, we encourage you to talk with your Branch Operations Manager to brainstorm a solution.
No. Employees who have been approved to drive company vehicles are required to park the vehicle in the designated company parking lot at the end of each day. An exception to this rule is if an employee is working far away or can’t make it back to the shop for business reasons. In this case the driver needs approval from their direct manager to park overnight in a non designated area. Nonemployees and nonbusiness passengers (i.e., family and friends) are prohibited from riding in company vehicles.

Benefits
Health Insurance
Your Branch Operation Manager will be able to answer basic questions regarding company benefits. For enrollment or more detailed questions like, adding or removing a child from your plan, please reach out to the HR manager. They will be able to help connect you with the right resources.
A package containing medical insurance is offered to full-time regular employees. Ace Gutter Inc. has a defined contribution to each employee's plan. The HR manager will give a brief overview about benefits with you during onboarding. You are eligible for health insurance after 60 days of full time employment. At that point, you will be given the official benefit plan documents, along with enrollment forms. Employees may enroll spouses and/or children as dependents, but do so at an additional financial responsibility. You will be covered under the applicable insurance plans as soon as the appropriate paperwork is completed, returned to the Human Resources Manager, and 60 day eligibility requirement has been met.

When you leave the Company, your coverage for medical insurance will end on the last day of the month. However, under certain circumstances, you may be eligible to elect continuation of medical coverage for a specific period on a self-pay basis under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA). Please contact the Human Resources Department with any questions.
No. Benefit changes require a qualifying event such as adoption, birth of a child, marriage or divorce, except during annual Open Enrollment. All benefit changes will route to a select health rep for approval.
401k/Retirement
Ace Gutter Inc. through a third party has established a 401K plan to help eligible employees supplement their income upon retirement. A Summary Plan Description of this will be provided to you when you become eligible to participate after 1000 hours of work (Around 6 months). The summary Plan Description will help you understand eligibility requirements and other important information. No. You may change your retirement contributions and your life insurance beneficiaries at any time.
Gusto HR Platform
Overview
Gusto is an easy-to-use, all-in-one human resources (HR) platform that helps our businesses handle payroll, employee benefits, hiring, onboarding, time and attendance, and compliance. Its payroll system is especially great for small businesses. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Yes, if the revision is within the current pay period, select the time block you want to correct and make the necessary corrections, or click ‘Delete’ to erase the time block completely. Then SUBMIT the revised time for your manager’s approval. If the revision is for a previous pay period, your manager (or HR manager) will need to submit the change on your behalf for the adjustment to be reflected on your paycheck.
PTO & Revise Timesheet
You should request time off as far in advance as possible (generally at least two weeks in advance for 1 day. 4 weeks in advance for more than 1 day unless it is an emergency). All time off requests should be done through Gusto. Once submitted, the number of hours and time off type will display on the timesheet for the relevant pay period. (Handbook 7.5)
You cannot enter time off directly on your timesheet. It is entered in Gusto. Once time off requests are submitted and approved by your supervisor they will display on the top of your timesheet and within Gusto.
If the adjustment is in the current pay period, you can make changes to an approved time off by talking with the supervisor.
